Dem For a Day
I went to see John Kerry speak tonight with Caitlin and Shannon. I thought it to be vair interesting and insightful.
There were a bunch of people before him that got to speak. I didn't listen much to them because this wierdo was invading my personal space in an unecessary manner next to me and I was complaining aloud about it (so that the people in front of me were amused) and he wasn't getting the hint.
Fortunately, he left prior to the concerty part. We saw Bruce Springstein, aka "the boss" ( they made a lot of jokes about that, and how JFK would be the "next boss" oh, ho ho ho, where do they get their material?) play, and it was okay, only he never played "Born in the USA". But it was still kinda cool. Shannon definately has an old man crush on him.
Anyway, so then Kerry spoke. He was pretty good and all, being all "go america, Bush sucks" and the usual political banter. He seemed kind of cool though unnatural- like he wasn't really used to talking to a bunch of people. I do, however, admire his valiance at speaking in front of the huge crowd that was there.
I personally, don't think that either candidate will advance the "american way of life" all that far. I mean, both have "good ideas", but that's all they are- ideas. Without senate approval and the such, it really doesn't matter a whole lot. And then half of it is false anyway. But what really annoys me are people like my mother who vote for one guy (bush, if you're wondering) just because they "don't like" the other guy (kerry). At least she should get a decent reason. I mean, fine if you've studied both policies and decided on bush (like I said, I'm non-partial) but it's so stupid when people "don't trust kerry" or "just want to get rid of bush". Granted, even if you've studied up on what they (or their parties) have said, that doesn't mean they'll carry on with it, but at least know their ideas, hear out their PR guys. Getting informed is the only way to make a non-ignorant decision. If you really think about it, it's best if everyone is an independant voter, because it means they are thinking for themselves based on what research they've done. Not just because they "don't like" the other guy. Thank you to theology and government (which gives me both the republican and democratic leniency, respectively) for telling me of this. Maybe next time there's an election, I will actually believe that one candidate might be more useful than another. However, I wouldn't even vote in this one, I think the country's too far gone.
Anyway, so I came home, and mother gave me the Bush speech (which would definately make me anti-Bush, if I didn't remind myself to be objective) and I got irritated and left before I found a way to illegally vote for Kerry just to piss her off.
also, on a side, non political note, we ate at this "Metropolitan grill" place, where they had amrazing pizzas. Also good salad, though the lettuice could have been a bit crisper.
I must now be off to bed.
